Ingersoll Rand Participates in U.S.-India Partnership Summit on Accelerating Resilient Growth and Development

Washington, October 1, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Randy Newton, vice president of enterprise engineering for Ingersoll Rand, a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, and Venkatesh Valluri, chairman and president of Ingersoll Rand India, will join leaders from the U.S. and India at the fifth annual U.S.-India Energy Partnership Summit, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, in Washington.

Valluri will lend his expertise and perspective to two panel discussions: Smart Solutions for Sustainable Cities in India and Sustainable Habitats: Increasing Energy Efficiency. Newton will speak during the session Energy & Climate Change: The Road Ahead for U.S.–India Cooperation, and will share Ingersoll Rand’s Climate Commitment announced last week by the company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael W. Lamach, at the 2014 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting and UN Climate Summit.

The fifth U.S.-India Energy Partnership Summit occurs while leaders of India are visiting Washington, in the wake of the UN Secretary General's Climate Summit. Co-organized by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) North America and Yale University, the U.S.-India summit brings together senior political representatives, policy makers, researchers and corporate leaders from both countries to deliberate and create solutions toward a sustainable future. Conference delegates will address U.S.-India collaboration on energy access, efficiency, security and technology.

About Venkatesh Valluri
Venkatesh Valluri is the chairman and president of Ingersoll Rand in India. He is a member of the global executive leadership team at Ingersoll Rand, and has been associated with various industries for over 29 years, with experiences spanning the regions of India, Europe and the United States.

Before joining Ingersoll Rand, Valluri was associated with the global measurement technology leader, Agilent Technologies, as its president and country manager. Prior to Agilent he held various leadership roles at General Electric (GE) in India and abroad. He served as the managing director of the Silicones business in India and later as the business leader for the Specialty Materials business in Europe. He also worked as the vice president of the corporate business development group and established multiple businesses and initiatives for operations of General Electric in India.

Valluri is a member of the Ministry-Industry Consultative Committee (MICC) under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI), Government of India. He serves as the executive-committee member of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), is a member of the National Executive board of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) and is the chairman of the U.S. India Energy Cooperation Program (ECP) in India. He also chairs the National Committee on Technology of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and serves on the Prime Minister’s Fellowship scheme board for Doctoral Research grants. He also serves as a member of the Karnataka Knowledge commission instituted by the Government of Karnataka.

Valluri holds a bachelor’s in technology in electronics and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.

About Randy Newton
Randy Newton is the vice president of Enterprise Engineering at Ingersoll Rand. In this role, Newton is responsible for leading refrigerant technology strategy for Ingersoll Rand and managing four Ingersoll Rand Engineering and Technology Centers globally, including centers in Bangalore and Chennai, India, Shanghai, China and Prague, Czech Republic.  

Newton has more than 30 years of experience with increasing responsibility in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry. Previously, Newton was the vice president of global engineering for the Trane and Thermo King, brands of Ingersoll Rand, where he was responsible for developing new technologies, products and applications.

He has more than 30 years of experience with Trane, including leadership positions in operations, quality, product management, product planning and engineering. Newton has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering for the University of Wisconsin – Madison and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. He is a longtime member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
