Intel's Marty Sedler Wins 2015 Green Power Leader of the Year Award
Sedler wins Green Power Leadership Award from Center for Resource Solutions at Renewable Energy Markets 2015
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, October 20, 2015 /3BL Media/ - Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) presented Marty Sedler, Intel's Director of Global Utilities and Infrastructure, with the "Green Power Leader of the Year" Green Power Leadership Award yesterday honoring his over two decades of advocacy for renewable energy development and adoption. In his role at Intel, Sedler is responsible for energy supply and infrastructure for all company facilities, as well as Intel's purchasing, installation, and strategy in its global renewable energy policy.
A tireless and outspoken advocate of the importance for companies to lead by example in powering their operations with clean energy, Sedler has led Intel to be the largest voluntary purchaser of green power in the U.S. for eight years in a row. He has also directed the construction of 43 alternative energy supply projects, using more than 10 technology applications and 23 solar electric installations at Intel locations around the world with a capacity of over 15 MW that collectively generate more than 15,000 MWh annually.
"Marty is the leader in this field," said Jennifer Martin, executive director of Center for Resource Solutions, which presented the award. "For decades he has led with a singular focus on not only powering Intel's operations with clean energy, but serving as an example for companies of all sizes that using 100% renewable energy is the right choice to make."
"I am extremely honored to be receiving the Green Power Leader of the Year award and am thankful to organizations like CRS and the U.S. EPA Green Power Partnership, which through their programs, validate and ensure clear guidelines by which we can participate and implement our strategies," said Sedler. "We believe Intel is executing aggressive strategies that eliminate inefficiency, drive new, greener technologies for energy supply, and ultimately help enable a cleaner, more vibrant energy industry for the future. The solution to climate change will require technology, new ideas, a combination of solutions, and dedicated champions, and Intel plans to remain strongly committed."
The Green Power Leader of the Year award is given out annually, and honors outstanding leadership by an individual who is leveraging his or her influence, power, position, or purchasing power to increase the prevalence of renewable energy. It was awarded at a ceremony yesterday taking place during the Renewable Energy Markets 2015 conference in Washington, D.C. An independent selection committee reviewed the nominations and chose the winners. CRS co-sponsors the Green Power Leadership Awards with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Green Power Leadership Awards recognize outstanding commitments and achievements in the green power marketplace in the following three categories: Market Development, Partners, and Suppliers. About the Green Power Leadership Awards
Electricity generated from renewable sources is becoming increasingly available nationwide. By choosing green power instead of conventional electricity, consumers, businesses, and organizations can support increased deployment of renewable energy technologies that will reduce the environmental impact of electricity generation and increase energy security. To recognize the actions of individuals, companies and organizations that are significantly advancing the development of renewable electricity sources through green power markets, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) sponsored the 2015 Green Power Leadership Awards. The 2015 Green Power Leadership Awards were held on Monday, October 19, 2015 in conjunction with Renewable Energy Markets 2015.
