International Convention Center Sydney (ICC Sydney) Awarded U.S. Green Building Council Certification

LOS ANGELES, July 25, 2017 /3BL Media/ – AEG’s International Convention Center Sydney (ICC Sydney), Australia’s premier convention, exhibition and entertainment venue, was awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED is the preeminent rating system for design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.

“ICC Sydney is recognized as a leader in sustainable building design. As the centerpiece of a A$3.5 dollar rejuvenation of the Darling Harbor precinct, ICC Sydney highlights an important part of the NSW Government’s focus on sustainability,” said NSW Minister for Finance, Services and Property, Victor Dominello.

The LEED Gold certification recognizes ICC Sydney’s work in sustainability including:

• Reuse of 100,000 cubic meters of concrete from the original brownfield site
• Use of 96 percent recycled steel in its Exhibition Halls
• Highly efficient Central Energy Plant and Building Management systems
• Australia’s largest electric car charging station for 25 vehicles
• A community funded solar array, the nation’s largest in a CBD, providing five percent of the venue’s energy – enough to power 100 homes.

This accolade further strengthens the precinct's environmental credentials, following the broader revitalization project having recently received an outstanding 6 Star Green Star Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA),” said Peter Robertson, General Manager of Darling Harbor Live.

Darling Harbour Live comprises Lendlease, HOSTPLUS, First State Super, Capella Capital, AEG Ogden and Spotless FM. Lendlease’s infrastructure development business Capella Capital is the PPP development manager and financial advisor. HOSTPLUS, First State Super and Lendlease are investors in the project company. Lendlease’s project management and construction business was responsible for the design and construction of the facilities while AEG Ogden is the operator of the facilities. Spotless is responsible for delivering Facility Management services.
