Introducing TriplePundit’s 3BL Forum Series
As the October 29-30 3BL Forum: Brands Taking Stands—What’s Next draws closer, the editors at TriplePundit are excited to announce the launch of an editorial series that will showcase several of the speakers, partners and sponsors that will be onstage during this fast-paced, high-octane event.
The Future of Values-Driven Investing
We launched the series with an op-ed from Megan Schleck, the CEO of COIN, a conscious investing platform that invests its clients’ money in companies that are making a difference. COIN, backed by John Hancock, combines the company's 157 years of expertise with COIN's passion for maximizing positive impact guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Schleck acknowledges that many Americans feel overwhelmed by the current sociopolitical climate consumed by alarmist assessments of our planet and society’s health. But she suggests one option many consumers have overlooked. “There is a way to drive progress and diversify your personal income for a sustainable future,” Schleck writes for TriplePundit. “Values-driven investing empowers people to make a difference by using investment dollars to support the change they want to see in the world.”
What’s Next For The Long View
To date, the series has also highlighted Forum partners, starting with the American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC), which celebrates a decade of advocacy of convincing business leaders to think long-term, beyond the quarterly growth expectations Wall Street has long imposed on companies.
The “Why” and “How” Behind Meeting Stakeholder’s Rising Expectations
One value the 3BL Forum offers attendees is that our speakers don’t talk about the “what” in corporate responsibility and sustainability. They focus on the “why” and the “how,” and discuss what’s hard as companies find themselves having to meet their employees’ and all stakeholders’ rising expectations.
To that end, one of our sponsors, America’s Charities, discusses how workplace giving is rapidly evolving from how many of us thought about it a decade ago. “86 percent of employers understand that their employees expect them to provide opportunities to engage in the community, and 87 percent believe their employees expect them to support causes and issues that matter to those employees,” says TriplePundit contributing writer Ellen R. Delisio.
Demystifing Reporting and Sustainability Communications
With those rising expectations comes a dizzying array of reporting frameworks as companies struggle to measure what really matters to their stakeholders, whether they are environmental or social impacts. TriplePundit writer profiles The Works Design Communications, a Canadian firm specializing in sustainability communications and reporting and a sponsor of the Forum. “It isn’t always easy to choose the perfect mix of frameworks, especially when companies have different needs to meet.” But there are ways forward, and The Works Design Communications will discuss it with attendees during an issue table they will host during the Forum.
