IWBI Launches Membership Program
Deeper engagement, more opportunities available as leaders coalesce around the WELL movement
NEW YORK– April 4, 2019 /3BL Media/ – The International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) today introduced a membership program for leaders who want to accelerate the adoption of a global culture of health and well-being. The program is designed to be a platform for collaboration that allows for deeper engagement and broader reach for companies excited by the evidence that shows how the places and spaces we occupy every day can help people thrive.
“At IWBI, we’ve been fortunate to work alongside so many WELL users, health advocates and long-time champions of this shared mission,” said IWBI Chairman and CEO Rick Fedrizzi. “There’s no doubt in my mind that we’re in the midst of one of the most significant global public health revolutions of recent times, and our community of leaders is at the forefront of that change.”
Fedrizzi noted that IWBI membership is a way for organizations to connect in an official capacity to the WELL movement, underscoring their leadership in this “second wave” of sustainability. “Our team worked directly with the WELL community to identify a suite of benefits that advances our common goals with more speed and efficiency than ever before,” he said. “Many of these community members have joined our early adopter round of membership, and I’m extremely proud to welcome them to the IWBI member network.”
There are two tiers of membership, at different price points, so companies can select the best fit for their organizational goals. Member benefits include discounts on the WELL Certification process and WELL AP credentialing program, specialized opportunities to publicize accomplishments, and more touchpoints with IWBI leadership and across the broader community through members-only annual events and enhanced digital engagement. The program creates pathways for WELL advocates and champions to stay connected, share best practices, explore new shared initiatives, and receive greater recognition for these efforts.
Fedrizzi noted that the launch of membership coincides with WELL’s rapid uptake across the globe as the tool of choice for leaders who put the impact on people at the center of design and operations decisions. “They’ve seen the evidence that says, taken together, these intentional decisions are yielding a significant return on impact in terms of attracting and retaining talent, productivity and overall health and well-being.
“Because we stand for proven performance, leaders are standing with us; when it comes to the health of the people you care about, just saying you’re doing the right things isn’t enough,” Fedrizzi said. “You need the rigor of performance verification that is the hallmark of WELL.”
To date, over 1,600 projects have registered more than 345 million square feet of global real estate assets with WELL, with more than 160 projects having successfully achieved WELL Certification since the program’s launch in late 2014. “With WELL v2 we have a rating system that can work for single buildings and entire portfolios, for new and existing buildings and interior spaces, and with virtually every building type. We’ve also introduced the WELL Community Standard pilot into the market to enthusiastic response.”
Fedrizzi gives a lot of credit for WELL’s success to the army of WELL APs, noting that nearly 8,000 people have either been credentialed or are in the process, representing a global network of hands-on experts. “These professionals are amazing and have wisely leveraged the WELL AP credential to expand their careers and underscore their commitment to the highest level of ongoing knowledge-building practical application. They are the heroes of our movement.”
