Campaign: Recycle-Bowl

Recycle-Bowl is Keep America Beautiful’s fun and friendly national recycling competition, focusing on promoting recycling in K-12 schools.   Registration for this year’s Recycle-Bowl competition closes on Oct. 13. The competition takes place from Oct. 19 to Nov. 15. Last year, around 1,500 schools participated, engaging over 800,000 students, teachers and administrators in recycling.

Why participate?

  • Competition is a proven method to facilitate behavior change. Use the national competition to motivate students to recycle by competing against other classrooms or schools! Some states even host their own state-level competition through Recycle-Bowl.

  • Free resources! We have loads of free resources that you can use to promote the competition and recycling on our website.  Posters, activities, and certificates are just some of what we have on our resources page.

  • Recycle-Bowl is a great chance to benchmark your school's recycling program and use our resources to take it to the next level. Our recycling resources and reporting framework are great ways to evaluate and improve recycling programs. Each year, we have schools that use Recycle-Bowl as the catalyst to start their own recycling programs!

  • Prizes: A national winner will be announced and prizes for the national winner and the most improved school will be awarded.  In addition, there are bragging rights for national waste reduction and food scrap collection categories, as well as the state winners.

  • Most importantly, It’s fun! The Recycle-Bowl competition is fun for both students and their teachers to learn more about recycling and waste in an engaging format. There is no limit to the creative ways that schools can promote recycling!

We invite you to participate in Recycle-Bowl this year, or let your local school district know about this great opportunity.
