Key’s Carlson named No. 17 of The 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance, Brady named No. 6 of The 25 Women to Watch
CLEVELAND, Ohio, September 22, 2015 /3BL Media/ – KeyCorp Chairman and CEO Beth Mooney has been named the #1 Most Powerful Woman in Banking for the third year in a row by American Banker. The honor comes on the heels of Mooney being named one of Fortune’s “50 Most Powerful Women in Business,” on September 14. Also recognized by American Banker are two of Key’s Executive Vice Presidents: Amy Carlson, group head Debt Capital Markets Origination and Structuring, who was named #17 of “The 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance,” and Amy Brady, chief information officer and Technology & Operations executive, who was named #6 on “The 25 Women to Watch” list. This annual ranking recognizes women for their impact on their company, industry, and community at large, as well as for their leadership skills and innovation in the face of professional challenges.
“All of the women in our rankings are truly exceptional leaders,” said Bonnie McGeer, who is executive editor of American Banker Magazine and the chair of American Banker’s Women in Banking Editorial Committee. “We are proud to include Beth Mooney, Amy Carlson, and Amy Brady as recipients of one of the banking industry’s highest honors.”
Mooney, who is the first woman to lead a top 20 U.S. bank, joined KeyCorp in 2006 as the top executive of the bank's then-14-state Community Bank. She became CEO in 2011, launching significant and strategic change to position KeyBank for continued growth. In her role as CEO, Mooney leads a workforce of 14,000 employees and is responsible for the bank’s two million clients and approximately $94.6 billion in assets.
Amy Carlson is the top-ranking female executive in KeyBanc Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking division of KeyCorp, and head of Key’s Debt Capital Markets Origination and Structuring. She is responsible for six divisions and more than 100 employees who originate, underwrite, structure, price and manage multiple classes of debt instruments across the full credit spectrum of Key’s institutional, middle market and commercial real estate clients.
Brady leads the firm’s Enterprise Technology and Operations organization and is responsible for the technology, back office operations, security, data and procurement functions, a budget of more than $600 million, and more than 4,500 individuals. Key’s Technology and Operations team delivers innovative technology to Key’s clients, including mobile and online banking, and world-class operations solutions, including loan, payment and treasury services.
“This award is an honor that I proudly share with Amy Brady, Amy Carlson and all KeyBank employees,” said Mooney. “KeyBank has an award-wining culture of diversity and inclusion where all employees are encouraged to bring their authentic selves to work. In this way, diversity and inclusion are business accelerators that better connect us to the clients and communities we serve. And, on behalf of KeyBank, I’d like to thank American Banker for this recognition.”
The complete rankings can be viewed at American Banker’s website, and are featured in the October issue of American Banker Magazine. The honorees will be celebrated at a dinner and awards ceremony on October 8 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, hosted by American Banker and parent company SourceMedia. Speakers at the event, including honorees, will share their experiences and discuss the implications of growing female influence in the industry. It will include a special focus on the impact these women have on society at large.
