LAcarGuy Supports Construction of New Paved Walking Path at Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook
Improves Park Experience and Safety for More Than a Million Los Angeles Park Residents Annually
Los Angeles, August 31, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Thanks to a unique partnership with California State Parks Foundation and CBS EcoMedia’s WellnessAd program, Los Angeles-based auto dealership group LAcarGUY is contributing to a broader community project to install a new paved walking path along Heltzer Road at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook.
Building on its longstanding commitment to local environmental partners, LAcarGUY is working with the California State Parks Foundation to support this important improvement project at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook. The new paved walking path aims to both expand recreational space and increase public safety for Los Angeles residents who visit the 58-acre park.
Visitation at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook has increased to more than 1.5 million visitors per year since the park’s opening in 2009. Local Los Angeles residents use the park primarily for fitness activities, including walking, jogging, and biking on the steeply-inclined entry road. Many visitors, including parents with strollers and those with mobility limitations, prefer the smooth paved surface and use the roadway as a fitness loop. The influx of pedestrians in the roadway has resulted in public safety concerns. LAcarGUY’s support of a new paved path in the park will augment the existing trail network by providing safe access to the park.
To celebrate LAcarGUY’s support of the new paved walking path, a volunteer event was held at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook. Hosts of the event included Mike Sullivan, Owner of LAcarGUY, Jerry Emory, Vice President of Communications and Programs of California State Parks Foundation, and local CBS radio station KROQ. LAcarGUY volunteers spent the day beautifying the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook through habitat restoration and invasive weed removal.
“Successful volunteer programs need support and buy-in from the local community to thrive,” said Emory. “That’s why we are so grateful for LAcarGUY’s vision and leadership on this project at Baldwin Hills. Their support is elevating the impact of our ongoing Park Champions volunteer program there so that we can accomplish something of great value to local residents.”
“We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this community project to build a new walking path at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook,” said Mike Sullivan, Owner of LAcarGUY. “LAcarGUY is proud to support projects that help Southern Californians enjoy the beautiful outdoor spaces in their communities.”
“The Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook is an amazing public space that gets used by more than a million Angelenos annually,” said Paul Polizzotto, President and Founder of CBS EcoMedia. “LAcarGUY’s support of the new paved walking path will expand recreation and safety at one of LA’s great outdoor community spaces.”
