Land Betterment Corporation Hires Senior Executive, Jessica Medeiros Garrison, as President of the Land Betterment Exchange
Jessica is a seasoned business executive and attorney focused on the high value strategic direction of the innovative Land Betterment Exchange Carbon Offset Blockchain platform.
FISHERS, Ind., September 14, 2022 /3BL Media/ - Land Betterment Corporation (“Land Betterment” or the “Company”), an environmental solutions company fostering positive impact through upcycling former coal mining and industrial sites to create sustainable community development and job creation, today announced that it has hired Jessica Medeiros Garrison as President of the Land Betterment Exchange (LBX) and LBX Carbon Offsets. Jessica will be responsible for driving the vision, outreach, and collaboration between corporations wanting carbon offsets and the domestic projects needing environmental remediation.
The LBX team noticed that in their quest for carbon neutrality, domestic companies are spending millions every year to pay landowners in foreign countries simply to not cut down trees in exchange for carbon offsets. The LBX philosophy is rather to spend those same dollars proactively to plant trees and to rehabilitate our scarred natural resources for the benefit of American communities.
“Our priority is supporting reclamation of our environment and distressed communities in the United States. By training former workers in the fossil fuel industry to perform remediation activities, we are empowering local communities and states to clean up the land that has given so generously to our society, and to sustainably return those sites to a healthy state. Along the way, we can create local jobs, provide additional tax revenue, grow the local tax base by increasing area property values, and help our domestic corporate leaders by supporting their carbon neutrality goals. Distressed communities are short of jobs and are not enthusiastic about their outdoor views. LBX is not forgetting about those communities. LBX will help anywhere there is a fossil fuel impacted property.” stated Jessica Garrison, president of Land Betterment Exchange.
These priorities created the pivotal moment in the creation of the Land Betterment Exchange Carbon Offset program. The LBX Carbon Offset is a verified and trackable voluntary carbon offset that enables companies to achieve carbon neutrality by sponsoring the remediation and transformation of former fossil fuel sites, while creating jobs for former coal miners and oil and gas workers in the local regions.
Mark Jensen, co-founder and executive chairman of LBX stated, “We believe LBX is a game changer for the voluntary marketplace. Given the vast amount of voluntary carbon offsets that will be needed over the next ten years, we will be a small component of the market but a component that every fortune 500 company should have in their yearly allocation. We offer several key differentiating factors that cannot be found in other voluntary carbon offsets. We feel confident that companies purchasing carbon offsets through the LBX program will realize more value per offset than any other offering in the market.”
The keys of Land Betterment Exchange Carbon Offsets are:
- LBX program offsets are derived from environmental improvement vs environmental neutral.
- The environmental improvement is created by local communities reclaiming and shutting down fossil fuel properties to transform the properties (carbon banking and reforestation).
- The jobs help workers transition from coal mining or oil and gas jobs to becoming environmental specialists (providing them jobs that match their skill sets).
- The offset has an extremely conservative valuation and calculation methodology.
- They are 100% tracked using blockchain as well as time elapse documentation and verification that is provided to the purchaser for their own use and marketing.
- Every project becomes a local marketing platform for the offset purchaser as we can integrate their brand in the videos and images created through the reclamation itself.
Jessica further states “I have three principal goals: (i) Americans to genuinely believe, have hope and be excited to know that LBX and its corporate collaborators will help them restore their communities, (ii) business leaders pledging carbon neutrality ambitions to feel duty-bound to learn more about and support the LBX platform, and (iii) for political leaders to observe and support these efforts in their states.”
Mark Jensen, executive chairman of Land Betterment stated, “We could not be more excited to have Jessica join our team at this crucial moment of the Land Betterment Exchange. We have worked tirelessly to design a product where everyone wins - the community, the environment and the carbon offset buyers. Having Jessica lead this division forward and showcase our product on the main stage is an exciting moment for our company. She has the passion, drive and energy to create change in our world and we are confident that through her efforts we will be able to clean up billions worth of environment hazards in the United States, create jobs for fossil fuel communities once left behind and truly improve the environment while helping corporations to achieve their carbon neutral plans.”
