Lenovo's Journey to Net-Zero: Natural Resources Conservation
How does a global technology leader make progress toward that “Mars shot” of net-zero emissions?
In this video series, we aim to demonstrate how Lenovo is taking action and measuring progress toward net-zero emissions through sustainable product design, conserving natural resources, and increasing sustainability in our supply chain.
Lenovo is proud to be working with Science Based Targets initiative to establish goals that support our vision to reach net-zero by 2050. We’re looking across all of our opportunities – from product design and use of natural resources to measuring emissions in our supply chain – for ways to improve and share as we innovate on our path to net-zero.

In a nutshell:
- Even if we achieve the goal of the Paris Agreement and limit global warming to 1.5 degrees celsius above pre-industrial levels, existing climate change will still stress water as resource around the world.
- Lenovo uses water to support employees at its locations across the globe, and in some places for building cooling and landscaping.
- Lenovo is annually measuring and monitoring its water use and assessing its risk, exposure and opportunities. Lenovo reports this data in our annual ESG Report with an aim to improve Lenovo’s overall water resilience.
- Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Group minimizes environmental impact and natural resource consumption through two main methods:
- The team offers pre-installed server racks, a service currently used for about one third of ISG devices. This means that servers are assembled to order at the factory, reducing the amount of paper, cardboard and other shipping materials used for packaging.
- Lenovo developed NeptuneTM liquid cooled solutions to recycle loops of warm water to cool the system. Users that move from traditional, high energy consuming air cooling to Lenovo Neptune solutions can see a 30-40% reduction in power consumption in their data centers.
