Lexus Gets the Ball Rolling In Support of Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan
More than 3,000 Metro Detroit Youth Impacted
March 12, 2015 /3BL Media/ - Thanks to Lexus two Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan will be able to play ball and so much more. Lexus is providing critical funding to support enhancements to youth sports programs aimed at positively impacting more than 3,000 Detroit youth members annually. The Lloyd H. Diehl Club and the James & Lynelle Holden Club will receive much-needed sports equipment and athletic uniforms, which will allow the two clubs to enhance their mission to provide quality programming while encouraging youth to develop healthy, active lifestyles.
The Diehl Club will receive sports equipment, including basketball hoops, tennis nets, equipment racks, branded jerseys and uniforms and a Wii U video game system. The Holden Club will also receive uniforms and gym equipment, such as jump ropes, Nerf footballs, and scoreboards, along with a Wii U video game system.
Lexus’ financial support was made possible through its dealers’ participation in CBS EcoMedia’s EducationAd program.
Since 1926, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan, originally the Boys’ Club of Detroit, has provided high quality youth development programs, sporting activities, events and a safe haven for children from all walks of life. The Clubs have been credited with “saving lives” of children who often have no one to turn to in times of family problems, poverty, failing grades and other difficult situations.
“Our goal is to help the kids we serve achieve three priority outcomes: Academic Success, Good Character and Citizenship and Healthy Lifestyles,” said Len Krichko, President & CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan. “This grant enhances our ability to achieve these outcomes for which we are grateful to Lexus and EcoMedia.”
“This donation is made possible by our southeast Michigan Lexus dealers – Meade Lexus of Southfield, Meade Lexus of Lakeside and Lexus of Ann Arbor,” said Dejuan Ross, General Manager, Lexus Central Area. “We’re a proud supporter of their efforts to enhance youth athletic programs in the Detroit area.”
A special event was held yesterday at the Lloyd H. Diehl Boys & Girls Club to celebrate the partnership and its impact on the youth in the community. Hosts included the President & CEO Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan Len Krichko; Director of Youth Services City of Detroit Mayor’s Office Shawn Blanchard; SVP Operations and Strategic Partnership Development EcoMedia Theresa Schieber; and Vehicle Operations Manager at the Lexus Central Area Spencer Illingworth. Following remarks from representatives, guests took a tour of the Lloyd H. Diehl Club and engaged the youth in various interactive activities at the Club’s games room.
“We’re extremely grateful to Lexus for offering opportunities for more kids in the Metro Detroit area to benefit from positive fitness experiences that will help enhance their wellness and help them perform better in school,” said Paul Polizzotto, President and Founder, CBS EcoMedia.
