LG Encourages American Consumers to 'Flip Your Fridge'
May 2019 /3BL Media/ - ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year LG Electronics USA is encouraging consumers to “Flip Your Fridge” in a nationwide retail promotion that offers attractive discounts on ENERGY STAR certified LG refrigerators. The promotion coincides with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s 2019 Flip Your Fridge campaign, which encourages consumers to responsibly recycle their old energy-wasting refrigerator and upgrade to a new ENERGY STAR certified model.
On average, an old refrigerator uses nearly twice as much energy as a new ENERGY STAR refrigerator. An LG ENERGY STAR certified refrigerator generally uses less energy than a 60-watt light bulb, and replacing your old refrigerator with a new LG model that has earned the ENERGY STAR label could save you more than $300 over the next five years.
Through June 5, participating LG national and regional retailers are offering discounts – up to 30 per-cent off, some as much as $1,400 in savings – on more than 50 eligible ENERGY STAR certified LG premium refrigerator models. They come in a variety of configurations, styles and finishes, including French door and side-by-side models in stainless steel, black stainless and the new matte black stainless steel finish.

Among the dozens of LG refrigerators featured in the 2019 Flip Your Fridge promotion are LG InstaView models. Recognized for their iconic tinted glass panel in the door, they allow users simply to knock twice to illuminate the interior and see inside to choose their favorite grab-and-go foods before opening the door. LG Door-in-Door technology keeps the cold air inside – saving energy and giving you peace of mind that food will stay fresh longer.
According to the EPA, if all refrigerators more than 15 years old were replaced with ENERGY STAR certified refrigerators, Americans would save more than $330 million in annual energy costs (energy savings equivalent to powering 300,000 U.S. homes) and prevent more than 5.5 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions annually, equivalent to the emissions from about 550,000 vehicles.
