Lilly STEP UP Project: An Initiative to Make Life Better

Today’s guest blog comes from Sunita Prasad, senior manager for Lilly’s MDR-TB programs in India.
For many Lilly employees, our annual Day of Service is like no other! After a day working on community-focused projects, Lilly colleagues come back to the office even more motivated and excited about what they have achieved and wanting to do more all year round. It was from this experience that Lilly India decided to take our commitment to our community to the next level, and this is how the STEP UP project was born.
The Lilly affiliate in India is based in the city of Gurgaon which is about 30 km south of Delhi. It is a vibrant city characterized by considerable building activity to cater to the unending housing and infrastructure demands of a rapidly developing economy, but behind the shopping malls and five star hotels are the slums in which thousands of families live. These families are key to building this growing metropolis.
