May 7, 2012 6:00 PM ET

Over the last week nearly 800 attendees gathered in Denver, Colorado to discuss the future of green healthcare. The 2012 CleanMed conference brought together leaders in sustainable healthcare to connect with peers, discuss new approaches to tackling complex sustainability issues, and share and discover best practices for creating greener healthcare products and facilities.

Johnson & Johnson was present as the first ever international sponsor of the conference, supporting the gathering in Denver as well the CleanMed Europe conference to be held in Malmo, Sweden in September. The Company was also recognized for its leadership in sustainability with four Champion for Change awards, which highlight companies that have successfully "greened" their own organizations as well as those that have helped their healthcare facility partners become more sustainable.

In addition to its sponsorship of the conference, representatives from across the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies were present at CleanMed to connect with and learn from the attendees. David Stanavage, from Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies Inc., came to CleanMed to introduce hospitals customers to the newly available JOHNSON'S® NATURAL® Baby products  The product line, launched last week to hospitals, is produced with 98% naturally derived ingredients and has been recognized as an Earthwards® product. "Hospitals are going green, and they're asking for greener products" said David. "We've been listening and we're introducing the JOHNSON'S® NATURAL® line to help meet their needs."

While the conference was an excellent opportunity for the Company to share information and best practices with attendees, representatives from Johnson & Johnson took away a great deal of insight as well.

"The CleanMed conference was an amazing opportunity to learn from others who are working towards a more sustainable model of healthcare" said Johnson & Johnson Senior Director of World Wide Health and Safety, Al Iannuzzi. "While there are clearly many challenges still facing the sector, it's encouraging to see so many Johnson & Johnson customers passionate about creating greener healthcare facilities and developing more sustainable products."
