(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) Mountainside, NJ - September 22, 2010 - Employees and supporters of L’Oréal USA, based in Clark, New Jersey, gathered recently for the company’s third annual charity golf outing, Fore the Children, at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster Township and New Jersey National Country Club in Basking Ridge. L’Oréal USA raised a record breaking $400,000 from this year’s event to benefit Children’s Specialized Hospital. L’Oréal’s gift will fund renovations to one of the hospital’s outpatient centers, making it easier to provide comprehensive rehabilitation care to children affected by brain injury, spinal cord injury, premature birth, autism, developmental delays, and life-changing illnesses. . Last year the company raised more than $300,000 to benefit the hospital.

The event drew an astounding 700 supporters and included 500 golfers playing 18 holes of golf on two different locations – Fiddler’s Elbow and New Jersey National Golf Club, silent and live auctions, and a terrific goody bag with products from key L’Oréal USA’s brands such as Ralph Lauren Polo, Lancôme, and L’Oreal Paris. Former New York Giants player, Don Herman was on hand to demonstrate his skills on the range and show his support for the hospital.)   Major sponsors include LA Enterprises, Alpla, Arkay Packaging, CCL Industries, Dimensional Merchandising Inc, IBM Corporation, Packaging Corporation of America, POP Displays USA and Topline Products Co., Inc.      “This year we have a large contingent of L’Oréal USA employees that have combined their efforts to continue something special – Fore the Children,” said Morris Lenczicki, L’Oréal USA Fore the Children committee chair, VP Corporate Operations North America and a trustee of Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation.   “We have shown what can be done to make a difference in the lives of others, and how working together for a special cause brings us closer. This is one of the reasons why community service is such an enriching endeavor.”    Vince Serpico, Senior Vice President, Corporate Operations North America of L’Oréal USA and Children’s Specialized Hospital trustee notes, “I am very proud of what our committee and volunteers have been able to accomplish in support of Children’s Specialized Hospital. What started as a small idea three years ago has now become a significant event in support of this worthy group. It is a clear demonstration of our active involvement in helping the local community”.   L’Oréal USA employee Dawn Griffin knows firsthand the importance of establishing a supportive group of people when raising a child with special needs. Dawn’s daughter, Sarah, now eight years old, suffered complications at birth and has had a challenging time learning to walk and increase her fine motor skills because of cerebral palsy. With the help of Sarah’s determination and the outstanding team of physicians and therapists at Children’s Specialized Hospital, Sarah has developed into a beautiful, funny, loving and fiercely independent young lady. Nicholas, Sarah’s youngest brother, is now also receiving services at Children’s Specialized Hospital in Hamilton for a speech delay. Both children are doing wonderfully and the family is grateful to Children’s Specialized Hospital for their work with Sarah, Nicholas and all their patients.    “As an employee of L’Oréal, I have seen the company demonstrate a spirit of outreach and charity on an ongoing basis,” said Dawn Griffin, VP, Customer Care for Luxury Products Division and Active Cosmetics Division, L’Oréal USA. “And while all the causes have been worthy ones, the affiliation with Children’s Specialized Hospital, is closest to my heart. It has been a wonderful experience to participate in the events today. Thank you to everyone at L’Oréal that worked to make this outing a success.”   PHOTO CAPTION: Photo Credit – Clinton Linton Morris Lenczicki, chairman of L’Oreal USA “Fore The Children” committee; Victor Ku, committee member; Isabelle Linton, committee member; Lorraine Ramppen, committee member; Kristin Conti, committee member; Fred Theile, committee member; Beth Anne Myarick, community relations director, Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation; Theresa Pastuch, committee member; Brian Wassall, committee member; Harry Silverman, committee member and Vince Serpico, L’Oreal USA senior vice president, corporate operations North America.   About Children’s Specialized Hospital: Children’s Specialized Hospital is the preeminent provider of rehabilitation services for children with special needs.
