Making Spirits Bright: TWC Employees Give Back To Their Communities

This year, for the first time ever, Time Warner Cable’s Corporate Brand & Reputation team orchestrated a company-wide holiday campaign. For years, TWC’s incredibly dedicated employees have been living our “Community” value and giving back in various ways over the holidays. However, without coordination across the company, the results of many of these efforts went unrecognized and unreported. In 2014, we set out to change this. As the team members responsible for strategic philanthropy and employee volunteering, our partnership on this effort was a natural fit. Our work together resulted in Making Spirits Bright, Time Warner Cable’s 2014 holiday campaign. Making Spirits Bright is designed to ensure that our team is aware of various holiday activities taking place across the country in order to be able to track the results and tell a company-wide story, and that all of these activities are branded with a consistent look and feel.
As the holiday season gets into full swing, the Making Spirits Bright campaign is starting to come to life across the TWC footprint. Our employees are running toy drives, collecting coats, and making families’ wishes come true. They are headed out to carol in nursing homes and serve hot meals at churches and soup kitchens.
Here’s just one great example: In the lead up to Thanksgiving, the Technical Operations team in Maple Heights, Ohio hosted a canned food drive to benefit the Greater Cleveland Foodbank, using the branded templates and resources provided by the new campaign to motivate employees to contribute. Together, they collected 2,033 pounds of canned food! In addition, the top four individual donors earned a day off to join their local leadership team in a volunteer food packing activity at the Greater Cleveland Foodbank on the day before Thanksgiving. Twelve TWC employee volunteers spent a total of 48 hours sorting and boxing eight pallets of snacks and cereal to be distributed across the Cleveland area to various hunger centers, food pantries and soup kitchens.
We are so proud of the many different ways our employees are making spirits bright this holiday season and are excited to see the broad impact this campaign is going to have in the communities we serve across the country.
