Making Sustainability a Core Business Strategy
May 12, 2011 1:00 AM ET
(3BL Media / the CSRfeed) The Conference Board today announced the launch of a renamed and expanded Center for Sustainability. The Center is designed to be a comprehensive resource for companies seeking to place sustainable business practices at the core of their operations—both to ensure positive human and environmental impact and generate competitive advantage.
Members of the Center for Sustainability participate in a global network of corporate directors, C-suite executives, managers, and outside experts in public conferences, small confidential discussion groups, and interactive webcasts, among many other forums. Members contribute to and help to craft the agenda of The Conference Board’s growing body of thought-leading sustainability research, with reports ranging across industries, world regions, and business functions.
“Sustainability is a major and growing business and social issue that more and more companies care about,” said Center Director David Vidal. “Sustainability is central to The Conference Board mission of working in the public interest to help companies better run themselves and serve society. We are pleased to dedicate increased resources to our newly expanded center.”
Regular publications from the Center for Sustainability include the quarterly newsletter Sustainability Talk; Policy Track, periodic reviews of public policy developments affecting sustainability; and BRIC Market, focused on sustainability news in Brazil, India, and China. The Center’s research program includes current topics such as greenhouse-gas regulation, sustainable corporate development in China, and the role of social media in corporate sustainability practice.
