Mars CEO Joins Global Business Leaders Supporting Paris Agreement

Joining a group of business leaders from around the world, Mars, Incorporated CEO Grant F. Reid has signed a new letter reaffirming support for the Paris Agreement.  One of 75 CEOs to sign on to United for Paris including Disney CEO Bob Iger, Patagonia CEO Rose Marcario, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and Virgin Group CEO Richard Branson; Reid has committed Mars to continuing to drive global climate action and do its part to reach the goals outlined in the Paris Agreement.

According to Reid, “Now is the time to act with bold ambition to address the climate crisis. Action is good for business, good for the people of the planet and the earth we share.” 

As part of its Sustainable in a Generation Plan, released in 2017, Mars has committed to reducing its emissions 27% by 2025 and 67% by 2050 across the full value chain.  The company, which employs over 125,000 associates, is also accelerating its science-based target for climate action in direct operations by pledging to help limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C and encouraging suppliers to do the same.

But as Reid says, “It is vital now, more than ever, that businesses, industries and government come together to drive collective action on climate.”
