Maximus Employee Volunteers Offer Comfort to Families in Virginia
A team of Maximus employee volunteers recently enjoyed a community support day at the Ronald McDonald House in Richmond, Virginia. This nonprofit provides a “home away from home” for families with children receiving medical care at nearby hospitals. Our team prepared meals for the resident families and left the kitchen spotless so parents had one less thing to worry about.
Maximus volunteer Kristy Jones shared that she had noticed Ronald McDonald House donation boxes inside McDonald’s restaurants but didn’t know much about the organization. “It was an eye-opening experience, and being able to donate my time to prepare meals was the least I could do,” she explained. Her colleague, Brandi Goode, agreed and said that she liked being able to help serve her community by making a difference right in her hometown.
The hand-prepared meal was much appreciated by a mother whose daughter was recently diagnosed with a serious heart condition that required immediate surgery. In speaking with our volunteer team, she shared that the short distance to the hospital and not worrying about what her family would eat made things so much easier. She explained that it allowed her to focus on caring for her daughter, and she is “forever grateful to the Ronald McDonald House and those who give their time, efforts, and money to help families at such a critical time.”
At Maximus, our team proudly provides customer service and eligibility support for Virginia’s Cardinal Care Program. This program provides coverage for essential healthcare services to over a million Virginians, including children, pregnant women, adults, and people with disabilities.
