September 30, 2013 /3BL Media/ - Held biennially, the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon challenges 20 collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that blend affordability, consumer appeal and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency. WHEN:  The Solar Decathlon will be taking place and open to the public from Thursday, Oct. 3 through Sunday, Oct. 13.  During the Solar Decathlon, Ingersoll Rand invites media to participate in the following:

  • Interviews (Thursday, Oct. 3 & Friday, Oct. 4 / throughout the Solar Decathlon): Ingersoll Rand executives Paul Camuti and Gary Michael will be on-site and available for interviews on Thursday, Oct. 3 and Friday, Oct. 4. In addition, in-person and off-site interviews can also be arranged throughout the duration of the event.
  • Connected Technology and Energy Efficiency Powerful Ideas Symposium (Thursday, Oct. 3): Paul Camuti and Gary Michael will be discussing how cloud based technology is providing real time energy consumption and production data, accessible in a consumer friendly manner via mobile apps, tablet apps and PR interfaces.                   

DISCUSSION POINTS:  Paul Camuti and Gary Michael will be available to discuss the following:

  • How greater energy efficiency and productivity can be achieved by global communities in an age of increasing urbanization
  • Misconceptions that only new innovations can help increase sustainability and how they can be dispelled; how today’s solutions and current smart technology can significantly impact energy efficiency
  • Increasing collaboration and partnership among like-minded organizations to advance energy efficiency; how academia , government and the private sector are working together to impact the future of energy production
