Merry Wishes Fulfilled by Republic Services Employees
The Republic Services Northwest Area and Bellevue Division employees teamed up to fill the holiday wishes of several children in need from Kenmore Elementary. More than half of the students who attend Kenmore Elementary are below poverty level and require food assistance and additional resources. Each year, Stacey Denuski, Kenmore City Councilmember, coordinates with the school to identify 100 of the highest-need students to participate in the Secret Santa/Papa Noel program. Students write letters to Santa and make a list of something they need and want. The letters are so genuine and heartfelt with requests for a game they can play with their little brother or sister, clothes, and often a basic need like a coat or blankets for their bed. This year, Republic employees donated more than 80 gifts and several hundred dollars in cash.
“It’s people like the team at Republic Services that make it the most wonderful time of the year,” said Rob Karlinsey, City Manager for Kenmore. “Thank you for all you do for our community.”
“The children’s letters are so sincere,” said Jeff Borgida, BU407 GM. “They wrote about how they tried to be a good big brother all year and how much they want a coat, jeans, board game or books. These kids touch our hearts. The highlight of our holiday is having employees who care so much and knowing that we can and do make a difference in these young lives.”
Republic Services drivers and office team care deeply about their communities and find great satisfaction from fulfilling the wish lists. They are excited donate the perfect gift, which often has a few extra surprises to help make the holidays merry holiday for these kids.
