Minera El Abra, a Freeport-McMoRan Company, Supports the Publication of Women of the Desert, a Book on the Heritage of El Loa Province in Chile

Women Of The Desert: An Invaluable Record Of The Living Heritage Of El Loa Province featuring 14 communities, including Chunchuri and Likantatay, is now available.

The book is published in partnership with Inacap Calama, which is an initiative that aims to recognize the Andean women who have lived in the desert and who have been perpetuating the territory's heritage.

Author Carlos González Riffo spent 13 years researching the cultural heritage of the El Loa communities. The project was financed by Minera El Abra and the renewable energy company Mainstream Renewable Power.

Copies of the book will be available in the libraries of the region, in schools and universities in Alto Loa and Calama, as well as in indigenous communities. Women Of The Desert is also available on the website of Minera El Abra www.elabra.cl.
