From Movement to Marketplace; Celebrating the Evolution of Impact
A critical mass of impact organizations celebrate significant anniversaries in 2012.
A critical mass of mission-oriented organizations are all celebrating significant anniversaries in 2012. Some of the names are recognizable far beyond the world of impact, but all share a belief that business can be an agent for positive change. The group of twelve include Stanford Graduate School of Business 40 yrs and the Center for Social Innovation (CSI) 10 yrs -- Trillium Assets 30 yrs -- Social Venture Network 25 yrs -- Berrett Koehler Publishers 20 yrs -- Net Impact 20 yrs -- Green Money Journal 20 yrs -- Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE) 10 yrs -- CASE at Duke University 10 yrs -- William James Foundation 10 yrs -- B Lab/B Corporation 5 years -- and Take Action 5 years. The innovations and efforts of these organizations are doing the work to create a more sustainable world through education, investment, mentorship, localization, reporting and best business practices.
When team members at Investors' Circle (celebrating 20 years) noticed so many of their close affiliates sharing news about their own milestones, an effort to bring everyone together was launched. Ultimately, a reception and dinner, "An Impact Anniversary Celebration," was set for October 24th in New York. "The intention for this event is not so much to congratulate one another, but to invite many to join us in acknowledging what we see as, perhaps, a truly a definitive moment," says Bonny Moellenbrock, Executive Director of Investors' Circle. "These twelve organizations have over 200 years combined in being dedicated to making great change in the world. It's a powerful statement that transformation isn't just possible; it's happening."
The Anniversary Celebration is part of the Investors' Circle Fall Venture Fair & Forum, Oct 24-25, at the Park Central Hotel in New York although tickets can be purchased separately. Invitation PDF is here. More information and Tickets ($250) are available here.
