NAEM's EHS Operational Excellence Conference to Focus on Business Integration, Strategic Alignment
February 28, 2019 /3BL Media/ - Today’s environment, health and safety leaders are involved with more aspects of business operations than ever before as they work to align their programs with corporate strategy and deliver bottom line results. To address this new approach to EHS management, NAEM has designed its May 2019 conference to meet the needs of those shaping business practices well beyond the traditional EHS sphere.
“Excelling at EHS management is more complex than just being in compliance alone,” said Dennis Hu, Director of EHS and System Safety Engineering at Ball Aerospace, who is leading the planning committee for the conference. “This conference is designed to not only address the challenges of EHS compliance, but also the full scope of risk management and strategic EHS management challenges corporate leaders must tackle.”
The 2019 EHS Operational Excellence conference will be held on May 14-16 at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh. The program will begin with a set of training workshops, and continue on May 15-16 with keynote presentations, interactive benchmarking and breakout sessions developed by a committee of peer leaders on such topics as:
- Effectively Communicate the Value of EHS&S to Your Organization
- Best Practices for Engaging & Managing Your Contractors
- Building the Business Case for EHS&S Objectives
- Today's Corporate Policies and Future Societal Changes
- Communicating & Managing Outcomes from Inspections and Audits
Planning committee member Lissa Aquino, Manager, Corporate Environmental Compliance Assurance at Stepan, said she has enjoyed working on the agenda because it has resulted in a conference she would like to attend. She hopes the event will foster the kinds of candid conversations she says are so important to problem-solving.
“You get a lot of value from meeting people who are facing similar challenges and may have already found solutions to those issues. There’s something really neat that happens when you are surrounded by your peers. It opens the door to conversations you wouldn’t otherwise have.”
NAEM Executive Director Carol Singer Neuvelt said the fresh approach to the conference design reflects the association’s commitment to continuous innovation.
