National Grid And Its Employees Make A Difference; Team Up With United Way To Assist Customers Most In Need
$2.6 Million Combined Gift Supports Hundreds of Agencies Across NY, MA and RI
Waltham, MA, July 11, 2019 /3BL Media/ – National Grid and its employees have once again joined forces to help support 35 United Way chapters throughout the company’s US service area. This year, more than 4,500 National Grid employees pledged more than $1.4 million to the United Way campaign. When combined with the company’s contribution of $1.2 million, National Grid’s total pledges for the recently completed campaign came to more than $2.6 million, matching last year’s levels, which assist hundreds of United Way supported grassroots agencies.
“National Grid is committed to bringing energy to life by building strong communities and investing in the communities in which it operates,” said Marcy Reed, Executive Vice President US Policy and Social Impact and President, National Grid, Mass. “I am so proud of our employees who are helping to continue our partnership with United Ways. They understand that programs supporting health, education, and financial stability – things like Meals on Wheels; helping the homeless and victims of domestic violence; book drives and financial literacy training for children, and “211” services – is doing the right thing for our communities. They clearly recognize the importance of giving, especially to those customers who are most in need of assistance.”
National Grid employee and corporate donations are broken down as follows: More than $1.5 million in New York; $900,000 in Massachusetts, and more than $200,000 in Rhode Island.
“Our annual United Way campaign, which began this spring, is one of the most effective ways we can help fight challenges that face the communities we serve and give back in an active, yet efficient way,” said Reed. “For decades, we’ve depended on United Way’s expertise to help maximize the impact of our contributions to provide assistance to people throughout our service area,” she added. National Grid’s support of United Way chapters results in assistance to millions of people across three states.
Over the last four years National Grid and its employees combined have donated more than $12 million. United Way uses this meaningful funding to, in turn, support local, grassroots organizations that provide direct services, collectively assisting millions of individuals and families. Services and assistance cover health, education and financial stability programs.
