National Grid Makes “A” List by Carbon Disclosure Project
WALTHAM, Mass., October 27, 2016 /3BL Media/—This week National Grid was one of 193 businesses worldwide recognized for its work to fight climate change by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)—making the Climate “A” List.

The Climate “A” List is published by the international, not-for-profit CDP and names businesses across the world for their work. Thousands of companies submit annual climate disclosures to CDP which are independently assessed using its scoring methodology. National Grid is among 9% of corporations participating in CDP’s climate change program to be awarded a position on the list, in recognition of its actions to reduce emissions and mitigate climate change in the last reporting year.
National Grid’s environmental sustainability strategy, called Our Contribution, identifies Climate Positive as a key theme for the business and has set a target to reduce our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 45% by 2020 and 80% by 2050. To date, National Grid has met its 2020 target, having made a 63% reduction against its 1990 baseline.
The Climate A List is released in CDP’s Out of the starting blocks: Tracking progress on corporate climate action report. This establishes the baseline for corporate climate action, reveals that global corporations have started the transition to a low-carbon economy and some are already capitalizing on the opportunities this presents. Companies’ progress on reducing emissions in-line with the goals of the Paris Agreement will be tracked against this baseline in future annual reports.
