National Grid Named As A 2017 World’s Most Ethical Company By The Ethisphere Institute For Seventh Time
Recognition honors those companies who lead with integrity and align principle with action
WALTHAM, Mass., March 13, 2017 /3BL Media/ – National Grid has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, as a 2017 World’s Most Ethical Company®.
National Grid has been recognized seven times and is one of only six in the Energy & Utilities industry, underscoring its commitment to leading ethical business standards and practices.
“At National Grid, we’ve established a workplace culture where inclusion is the air we breathe, intolerance in any form is unacceptable, and always doing the right thing is part of our DNA,” said Dean Seavers, President National Grid US. “We’re a hyper-local company – our employees are our customers, and our customers are our neighbors – so it’s a natural foundation for the way we run our business.”
2017 is the 11th year Ethisphere has honored companies that recognize their role in society to influence and drive positive change; consider the impact of their actions on their employees, investors, customers and other key stakeholders; and, use their values and culture as an underpinning to the decisions they make every day.
“Over the last 11 years, we have seen the shift in societal expectations, constant redefinition of laws and regulations and the geo-political climate. We have also seen how companies honored as the World’s Most Ethical respond to these challenges. They invest in their local communities around the world, embrace strategies of diversity and inclusion, and focus on ‘long term-ism’ as a sustainable business advantage,” explained Ethisphere’s Chief Executive Officer Timothy Erblich. "Congratulations to everyone at National Grid for being recognized as a World's Most Ethical Company."
What makes a company World’s Most Ethical?
The Ethisphere Institute uses its Ethics Quotient® (EQ) framework to measure each company’s performance in an objective, consistent and standardized way. Scores are generated based on core competencies in five key categories: ethics and compliance program (35%), corporate citizenship and responsibility (20%), culture of ethics (20%), governance (15%) and leadership, innovation and reputation (10%). Ethisphere then provides companies that participate in the process with their scores.
