SAN DIEGO, Calif., June 3, 2012 /3BL Media/ – NativeEnergy, a leader in the carbon offset market for more than a decade, is the carbon sponsor for this week’s Sustainable Brands Conference in San Diego. Corporations looking to further their sustainability efforts, like Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Unilever, and Coca Cola are convening to share information about strategies and practices that deliver financial, social, and environmental benefits.

This is the third consecutive year that NativeEnergy is the carbon offsets sponsor for the rapidly growing conference. NativeEnergy will donate carbon offsets that balance the CO2 emissions from event activities, attendee travel, and hotel accommodations.

This year for the first time, NativeEnergy will also use WindMade™ certified renewable energy to green up the electricity required for the conference. WindMade™ is the first global consumer label identifying organizations and products that use wind power and other renewable energy sources. NativeEnergy is collaborating with World Wildlife Fund to ensure that the conference is 100% renewably powered and qualified for WindMade™.

NativeEnergy is known for its distinctive Help Build™ carbon offsets. NativeEnergy’s Help Build™ program provides essential upfront funding, which enables clean energy and carbon avoidance projects to be developed. Through their purchase of Help Build™ offsets, businesses play a direct role financing a new project and receive title to the carbon reductions that are produced over the project’s life. Recent projects include the Indiana Community Wind Project and Kenya Clean Water Project.

“The news about climate change is troubling,” said Tom Rawls, Vice-President of NativeEnergy. “We believe that businesses have the ability to make a meaningful difference. By gathering together, keeping the conversation going, and avoiding CO2 emissions whenever possible, we can make significant strides toward the transition to a sustainable world.”
