New HP/NACCE Collaboration in America Boosts Entrepreneurship for Youth

HP LIFE e-learning in the formal education system

HP and America’s National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) are collaborating to boost entrepreneurship among young people across the US. Over the next few months, the HP LIFE (HP Learning Initiative for Entrepreneurs) e-Learning program will be integrated into the formal education system in the US.

This exciting collaboration was announced by Meg Whitman at the recent Montana Economic Development Summit which was attended by around 3,000 delegates.

Starting September, six ‘HP LIFE Faculty Ambassadors’ from NACCE will integrate the e-learning platform into their community college classes in different ways, effectively building their own teaching capacity while also enhancing the classroom experience. This will provide real-time insights and practical experiences into how e-learning can be used, not just on campuses but also in communities to foster youth entrepreneurship.

Young entrepreneurs are urgently needed across the nation. They can play a fundamental role both in improving their own lives and in contributing to a thriving economy by creating jobs to benefit others. Yet estimates suggest that more than 75 million unemployed youth around the world lack access to the educational resources required to develop and support their entrepreneurial business ideas. Often what’s missing are business and IT skills to help turn good ideas into economic success.

Online learning provides a solution – HP LIFE e-Learning is a cloud-based, free business and IT skills training program.  It offers learners a self-paced hands-on learning experience virtually anywhere, anytime, with the added advantage of access to a global community of like-minded people and opportunities for e-mentoring support from HP employee volunteers.  The program has more than 70,000 registered users in over 215 countries and has reached 2 million plus students to date.

By bringing HP LIFE e-Learning into the formal education system, the collaboration between HP and NACCE enables community colleges to enhance their role not just on campuses but also in communities. Success at this initial stage could result in roll-out of HP LIFE e-learning to over 1,200 community colleges and additional institutes of higher learning across the USA, and would point the way for similar expansion and application of the program in other countries around the world.
