The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Louisiana is the local chapter of the national organization, Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Established in 1965, the organization has provided daily after school and summer enrichment programs for youth of this community. The Westbank Unit, located at 900 10th Street in Gretna, known to many as the “old Gretna Gym”, a building from their past that hosted school dances and many a basketball game, has evolved into a youth program center that fills more than just the recreational needs of the youth of this community. For over 300 youth who come our doors every year,  the Club provides more than a safe, fun and constructive alternative to being home alone- it offers a variety of award-winning developmental programs to help youth build skills, self-esteem and values during critical periods of growth. Most importantly, the Boys & Girls Club shows young people that someone loves them and cares about them and has a real interest in their moral development.
