NEW YORK, April 19, 2012 / 3BL Media / PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Thursday, April 19, 2012, New York Restoration Project, a non-profit dedicated to creating a more sustainable New York City, in partnership with the Greening Western Queens Fund, is once again bringing out corporate partners for its fourth annual "Root for New York" Corporate Challenge event. The large-scale volunteering event will plant nearly 200 lush trees in Astoria, Queens.

Made possible through funding from Greening Western Queens, the event is enlisting 200 employee volunteers from some of the city's most environmentally conscious corporations, to make a dramatic impact on the city's environment. Lead corporate partners include American Express, Delta Air Lines and Deutsche Bank. Other corporations supporting and participating include CA Technologies, REI, Marsh & McLennan and Fred Alger Management, Inc.

"Our annual Corporate Challenge Day is a great way for corporate citizens to get out of the office and volunteer to make a real difference," said Amy Freitag, Executive Director of NYRP. "NYRP is thrilled to have the support of our corporate partners as we work to green Western Queens and NYC."

"We are thrilled that so many corporations have come together to help support Greening Western Queens," said Alison Tocci, President of City Parks Foundation. "These volunteer efforts ensure Western Queens will be greener, more livable place for its residents for decades to come."
