Newsweek Names Tetra Tech One of America’s Most Responsible Companies 2020
Continuing our commitment to our corporate social responsibility and sustainability goals
Newsweek recognized Tetra Tech as one of America’s Most Responsible Companies 2020.
Tetra Tech was among 300 firms selected for the list out of more than 2,000 companies evaluated. We also ranked among the top 10 companies in the Professional Services category. This accomplishment was achieved through our continued commitment to our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.
The thorough analysis of each company included evaluation in three corporate social responsibility (CSR) areas—environmental, social, and corporate governance. As we reflect on our performance in each of these areas, we are proud to see Tetra Tech listed among like-minded companies. Newsweek partnered with Statista Inc. to evaluate and publish their first ranking of America’s Most Responsible Companies. The data used to evaluate these companies came from CSR reports, sustainability reports, corporate citizenship reports, and an independent survey given to 6,500 United States citizens.
At Tetra Tech we seek clear, sustainable solutions in our projects and our communities. We address our clients’ toughest environmental, safety, and sustainability challenges with this intention in mind. Thanks to the efforts of our teams around the world, we are meeting our ESG objectives and clients’ needs through our work in various markets, including high performance buildings, solid waste solutions, and water. Tetra Tech is repeatedly recognized by Engineering News-Record for our innovative solutions and practices in these areas, particularly being ranked #1 in water for 16 years in a row.
To further our commitment to provide innovative, sustainable solutions for our clients, communities, and employees, Tetra Tech joined the United Nations (UN) Global Compact. We are supporting UN efforts to end extreme poverty, fight inequality, and address climate change. We are Leading with Science® to align our business strategies and operations to support the UN Global Compact values of human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption.
Tetra Tech’s dedication to ESG goals extends far beyond the work we perform for our clients. Our commitment to these goals extends to all levels of our company, from our Board of Directors to our entry-level positions. Our Diversity & Inclusion Policy recognizes the contributions of our multinational, multicultural, and highly collaborative workforce of thousands of employees working from hundreds of offices around the world. This policy guides the Board of Directors, management, employees, subcontractors, and partners in developing an inclusive culture. Part of that inclusive culture is pursuing gender equality at all levels of the company. Tetra Tech reached a gender equality milestone in 2019 with at least 30 percent female board representation, exceeding the national average and meeting California’s 2021 requirement early.
Our 20,000 associates make our sustainability and CSR objectives attainable. We are proud to see their personal commitments to sustainability play out in their personal lives and our offices. Each year they initiate and participate in recycling efforts, planting gardens, charitable giving, and sustainable activities such as our annual International Bike to Work Week Challenge.
Throughout the year, our team members also give back to the communities in which they live and work, such as the Paradise backpack giveaway, and our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Program. While our team worked to clean up the debris in Paradise, California, after the 2018 Camp Fire, they provided a back to school backpack giveaway and BBQ to prepare students and their families for a new school year. Using our award-winning STEM Program, Tetra Tech’s experts inspire and encourage the next generation of leaders in these fields.
