From the Brazilian savannah to the French production floor

The latest issue of the TB Quarterly demonstrates Novo Nordisk’s global strategy to reduce CO2 emissions, energy use, water consumption and waste through local production site initiatives.

Articles include the story of NovoECO, an initiative in Brazil where conservation of the local Cerrado savannah has led to both water and waste reductions and a new recreational area for the employees. In China, considerable energy savings have been made by thinking energy savings into the early design of the production site. In France, setting ambitious water reduction goals has spurred innovation among employees on the production floor leading to a 79% reduction in water consumption.

Also included in the latest issue are examples of how employees volunteer to give back to the communities, how Novo Nordisk works in partnership with the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) to find new ways to reduce NHS’ CO2 emissions, and a Q&A with two energy stewards from the production site in Tianjin, China who have made a career out of searching for energy savings.
