Novo Nordisk Maintains Leading Position in Climate Disclosure Ranking
Novo Nordisk sustains solid performance score in Carbon Disclosure Project rating.
(3BL Media) September 13, 2012 - Novo Nordisk remained in the top 10 of healthcare companies in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Global 500 2012 report. According to the report’s assessment, the company’s disclosure score reflects senior managements understanding of the business issues related to climate change and efforts to build climate related risks and opportunities into core business.
“Novo Nordisk’s sustainability commitment has always been about long-term success – including mitigating risk and harvesting opportunities. With the rise in extreme weather events and the impacts on business, it is reassuring to see that companies worldwide are increasingly integrating climate change into their wider business strategy,” says Susanne Stormer, vice president, Corporate Sustainability, Novo Nordisk.
Compared to 2011, Novo Nordisk improved its disclosure score by 1 to 90 out of 100. Novo Nordisk’s performance, assessed by the level of action taken on climate change, is unchanged. According to the CDP this shows the company has recognised climate change as priority for strategy, but not all initiatives have been fully established. 33 of 38 healthcare companies in the Global 500 responded to this year’s CDP questionnaire.
Novo Nordisk has participated in the Carbon Disclosure Project since the first rating was made in 2003. All Novo Nordisk responses, including 2012, are publicly available from the Carbon Disclosure Project's website.
