Obras por Impuesto: Public Private Partnership Portfolio Exclusive for Latin Firms

In Latin America, in terms of public infrastructure investments neither the state nor the private sector have lead enough initiatives to cope with the expectations of communities and economic growth. The scheme “Obras por Impuesto” (OxI), put forward by the Peruvian government is a program that targets precisely that, bridging the gap between local companies and communities, while solving the immense need of public infrastructure throughout the country. We think this is a good model for Latin America and beyond.
Latin America has a grave need for efficient road networks, sewage systems, paved sidewalks, and well-equipped fire stations. Public work/infrastructure investments benefit both everyday citizens and local firms; it creates jobs, increases productivity, and also makes local firms more globally competitive.
A dedicated and experienced development professional with a background in community economic development, Luis’ work focuses on project management, communication strategy, and the design of community outreach projects. Currently working at AMGlobal consulting, he has led successful client missions, and helped broker partnerships and building business relationships to strengthen emergency preparedness in his home country of Peru – including work with the biggest manufacturing company of firefighting apparel in the world to provide training, donations, and humanitarian relief to first responders in vulnerable areas.
