Old Town Area Resident Carla Knapp Honored with 2013 “Maytag® Dependable Leader” Award

Award recognizes Boys & Girls Club professionals and volunteers who exemplify dependability with $20,000 grant for their local club

OLD TOWN, MAINE, AUGUST 6, 2013 /3BL Media/ – The Maytag® brand and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) announced today that Carla Knapp has been named a “2013 Maytag Dependable Leader” in acknowledgment for her dedication to keeping youth on the path to achieving great futures. The Maytag Dependable Leader Award recognizes club professionals and volunteers who are committed to making a difference in the lives of youth by being dependable and exceptional role models.

Carla Knapp was selected as one of 25 recipients to receive the distinction and a $20,000 financial award to help further extend her respective focus with the Maine Native Boys & Girls Clubs. Carla Knapp intends to use the one-time grant to develop and implement a Strength Based Youth Diversion Program, a partnership with the Juvenile Community Corrections Officer of Region 3 of the larger Bangor area.
