OMV Positions Itself for a Low-Carbon, Circular Future

OMV, the international, integrated oil, gas, and chemicals company based in Vienna, has published its 16th sustainability report. The Sustainability Report 2020 particularly focuses on OMV’s contributions to the energy transition, circular economy, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, as well as management of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

OMV's mission, today and tomorrow, is to produce and market oil, gas and chemical products in a responsible manner, and to develop innovative solutions for a circular economy. Sustainability is anchored in the OMV strategy and the company is committed to building a sustainable world worth living in for everyone.

Despite the uncertainties of 2020, OMV hit several milestones in decarbonizing its business and being a leader in sustainability:

  • Set new ambition of net-zero emissions in operations by 2050
  • Achieved lowest-ever total recordable injury rate and safeguarded the health of our employees amid the pandemic
  • Hit milestone in circular economy journey, transforming 250 t of post-consumer plastics into synthetic oil
  • Doubled investments into sustainability innovations
  • Implemented community development initiatives benefiting 1.86 mn people in our countries of operation, and actively supported our communities during the pandemic
