National Nonprofit Adds American Cancer Society Executive to Management Team as More Americans Rely on it to Collect and Deliver Warm Coats to People in Need
(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) San Francisco - March 31, 2011 - One Warm Coat, which collects and delivers warm clothing to Americans in need, today announced the appointment of Doug Selee, formerly of the American Cancer Society, as Chief Operating Officer. In this newly created role, Selee will work with One Warm Coat’s president and board of directors to expand the organization’s reach and services through strategic planning and execution.
“With the double-whammy of the Great Recession and record cold winters, the need for coats is more acute now than ever,” said One Warm Coat President Sherri Wood. “With more than 20 years of operational experience and a track record of driving nonprofits to higher levels of service, Doug will help us meet this growing demand and play a key role in One Warm Coat’s continued expansion.”
Prior to joining One Warm Coat, Selee was with the American Cancer Society for 16 years, where he held both executive and field positions. In his most recent role as vice president of operations, Selee oversaw the organization’s strategic planning for the $60 million operational budget and more than 500 staff members in 90 locations. Earlier in his career, Selee served as regional executive director for the American Heart Association in Santa Rosa, Calif. Selee holds a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif.
“As a Bay area resident, I’ve watched One Warm Coat grow from a local movement to a national nonprofit that fills a very important need,” said Doug Selee. “I’m looking forward to working with Sherri and the board to expand volunteer and sponsor involvement in the organization with the goal of providing warm coats to even more children, women and men in need.”
