On Sept. 27, PepsiCo Mexico received the Best Practices Award from the Mexican Center of Philanthropy, granted for the success of Educampo, the company's agricultural sustainability program. The Educampo initiative contributes to the development of low-income farming families in corn producing communities, while guaranteeing high-quality corn for PepsiCo's snacks production in the state of Jalisco.
The Educampo program directly benefits 214 small producers and their families - a total of 1,200 people across seven municipalities - in the Mexican state of Jalisco. The crops obtained by this program represent 40 percent of the corn supply needed in PepsiCo Mexico’s manufacturing facility in Guadalajara. A second component of the program is Clean Fields, an initiative for the adequate disposal of agrochemical containers to avoid potential soil contamination. To continue reading about PepsiCo Mexico’s Best Practices Award, click here.
