PepsiCorps Ghana Provides Final Proposals To Local Communities

The team has been on the ground for 4 weeks and has just delivered its recommendations to the District Assembly, community Chiefs, elders and thought leaders, Regional Tourism representatives (i.e. provincial) along with many other stakeholders in the future of this beautiful part of Ghana.  It is hard to believe but our time in Ghana is coming to a close.

There have been a number of times during our time here where PepsiCo has been asked for funding for direct investments that would put a bandage on problems today but would deliver no sustainable benefit to Ghana.  We are not in a position to provide this type of benefit to the communities.  PepsiCo was very smart to send us over only with ideas, creativity, energy and passion to make a difference – and importantly to live our values while delivering Performance with Purpose.  Our team has added personal commitments to mandate the delivery of sustainable change from our efforts.   Through numerous community, government and private sector meetings, we have been preparing the stakeholders to embrace our proposals and drive them to fruition.  Some of our recommendations have been controversial yet critical to the objectives we were tasked to deliver:  challenging a municipality to embrace their future as a city and forgo their small town mindset;  challenging the government to implement national controls mechanisms and conflict of interest guidelines to better manage vendors, challenging community leaders to lead behavioural change in their communities and become self-sufficient in the provision of infrastructure investments needed to sustain and nourish their communities.   To continue reading about the PepsiCorps team in Ghana, click here.     About PepsiCo
