WHAT: Pacific Gas and Electric Company will be displaying a range of its “Green Fleet” vehicles on Justin Herman Plaza as part of the Plug-In Electric Vehicle Collaborative Conference.
PG&E operates one of the largest green fleets in the country, with over 3,400 electric or alternative fuel vehicles. Vehicles on display will include the following:
- Altec e-WIMS Bucket Truck & Material Handler Truck: Utilizes a first-of-its-kind plug-in battery-powered system, called the Electric Worksite Idle Management System (e-WIMS) to power the auxiliary features of these trucks—lights, hydraulic lifts and tools—while at the job site, avoiding the need to idle the vehicle’s engine.
- VIA Motors Extended Range Electric Pickup Truck: Developed in partnership with VIA Motors, this vehicle was the first extended-range electric pickup and features an electric-only range of 40 miles and exportable power, which can be used to provide power during small outages or to power tools used by our crews in the field.
- Mobile Command Vehicle: The large mobile command centers can support up to 15 people for long-term deployments during emergency situations and include a generator, workstations, laptops, satellite phones, radios and a radio controller that permits integrated communication with other emergency agencies.
- Smith All-Electric Service Truck: Developed in partnership with Smith Electric Vehicles and American Truck and Trailer Body Company, the truck is North America’s first all-electric powered medium duty flat bed truck.
- Chevrolet Volt, Ford C-Max Energi & Mitsubishi iMIEV
