Presidente InterContinental Hotel in Guadalajara, by Grupo Presidente, Signs Agreement With Children International to Give Youth Employment Opportunities
Children International’s Into Employment Program Offers Youth in Mexico Job Training and Placement Assistance With Major Companies
Kansas City, MO, July 31, 2014 /3BL Media/ - The Hotel Presidente InterContinental in Guadalajara has signed an agreement with Children International that will give employment opportunities to disadvantaged youth in Mexico. These youth will receive job training and placement assistance through Children International’s Into Employment program followed by the opportunity to interview for jobs with the hotel.
Tom Owens, Children International’s Director of Workforce Development, explains, “Guadalajara, Mexico, has a very robust tourism and convention industry. There are jobs available within this field, but applicants must have a certain skill set that makes them qualified to work in it. That’s where Into Employment comes in.”
Children International’s Into Employment program integrates vocational education, life-skills training and job placement for youth from the most economically and socially vulnerable groups of society. The program aims to help youth develop their skills and aptitudes, create a long-term career plan and obtain a decent job in the marketplace.
Through this new agreement, youth will receive the training they need to obtain jobs in the tourism and convention industry, and they will have a chance to interview with the Hotel Presidente InterContinental on completion of their training. The jobs that the hotel is making available will offer youth the chance to increase their income, raise their standard of living and create a platform for professional growth.
“It’s a good deal all around,” says Owens. “Economically disadvantaged youth get a chance to work their way out of poverty. The hotels and other businesses are able to fill job openings with skilled workers.”
Gustavo Staufert, General Manager of the Hotel Presidente InterContinental Guadalajara, says, “We are pleased to join with Children International to offer employment to their youth. The Hotel Presidente prides itself on providing the highest standard of service to our guests, and we look forward to meeting qualified Children International candidates who not only have the skills we require but possess a strong work ethic and drive to succeed.”
Bernardino Téllez, the Human Resources Manager of the Hotel Presidente InterContinental Guadalajara, adds, “This agreement is meant to provide young people with opportunity. We open our arms to these youth applicants and, for those who join us, we encourage them to become as successful as they want to be.”
