Prince Fielder Event Supports At-Risk Kids In North Texas
Prince Fielder received big-time support from his Rangers teammates last week at his annual “Uncork for a Cause” wine-tasting benefit.
Elvis Andrus, Anthony Bass, Adiran Beltre, Delino DeShields, Jake Diekman, Sam Dyson, Sam Freeman, Yovani Gallardo, Chris Gimenez, Derek Holland, Colby Lewis, Keone Kela, Mitch Moreland, Mike Napoli, Ryan Strausborger and Bobby Wilson all helped the six-time All-Star raise funds for Promise House, which supports homeless kids and runaways, as well as the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.
The two-hour long celebration, which included dinner prepared by Executive Chef Juan Rosado, was held Thursday, August 27, at Max’s Wine Dive in the historic Le Méridien Dallas hotel. There was also an auction of Texas Rangers memorabilia, local and national sports items, and wine lots from some of California’s elite producers.
The event also served as a release party for Fielder’s 2012 Sonoma Reserve Red Wine. Just two barrels of this special limited-edition blend were produced to help support Fielder’s charitable programs.
Founded in 1984, Promise House embraces homeless, runaway and at-risk youth, giving them needed support and encouragement. The program, which serves more than 70,000 people in North Texas, provides emergency shelter, transitional living, pregnant and parenting teen services, individual, group and family counseling, street outreach and educational intervention.
The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of children in need within our community, and provides funding for youth in crisis, youth health initiatives, youth baseball programs, and youth education.
