Principal® Foundation Sponsors EVERFI Financial Literacy Bee and Launches New Online Financial Education Center

Des Moines, Iowa, April 1, 2022 /3BL Media/ – To mark National Financial Literacy Month, Principal^® Foundation is encouraging high school students to participate in the 2022 EVERFI Financial Literacy Bee, which provides an opportunity to explore financial decision-making topics and win a college scholarship.

The EVERFI Financial Literacy Bee is a nationwide initiative for students that will run from April 1-15, 2022. Over the course of this two-week challenge, students will explore four topics: the importance of savings, saving for short-term goals, budgeting for medium-term goals, and investing for long-term goals. After completing the four lessons, students can submit a short essay to summarize how they will apply this new information in their own lives. All four lessons and the essay must be completed and submitted by April 15 for the opportunity of one student to win a $1,500 scholarship.

“We are committed to providing the next generation with the education and resources necessary to be more financially capable consumers. This scholarship competition is one way we are advancing that commitment,” said Jo Christine Miles, Principal Foundation and community relations director.

Since 2010, Principal Financial Group^® and Principal Foundation have empowered over 35,000 K-12 students to achieve long-term financial capability by understanding foundational financial concepts through digital education administered in coordination with EVERFI. In 2022, Principal Foundation and EVERFI launched a rotating series of playlists on financial literacy that are geared toward providing information for the whole family.

This new online Financial Education Center will cover a wide variety of topics from EVERFI that provide the knowledge and skills needed to make better financial decisions. Principal Foundation is offering this program to the public at no cost and encourages widespread sharing of this new and valuable free resource.
