PT Freeport Indonesia, a Freeport-McMoRan Company, is Investing to Beat Malaria

March 22, 2016 /3BL Media/ - In its continued efforts to wipe out malaria and prevent the spread of the malaria disease by anopheles mosquitoes in the Mimika Regency in Papua, Indonesia, PT Freeport Indonesia, in conjunction with local institutions, conducts comprehensive treatment, early detection and preventive measures.

The Malaria Control Center is a parternship of the Department of Health, PT Freeport-Indonesia’s Partnership Fund for Community Development (LPMAK) and Community Health Development.

In 2015 the Malaria Control teams

• Sprayed over 25,000 homes in the Timika area with anti-malaria treatment

• Installed approximately 24,000 mosquito nets in homes in the town of Timika in the Mimika Regency

• Provided treatment to those who are suffering from the disease
