Renewing GRI’s Governance

GRI, provider of the world’s most widely used sustainability reporting framework, has launched a global search to find new members for its decision making and advisory functions.

GRI’s independent, multi-stakeholder approach sets us apart from other standard setters. That is why we are seeking the broadest societal participation in our governance, so that we are inclusive and representative across sectors and geographic boundaries.

Therefore, any individual of high integrity and relevant experience is invited to apply to the join one of the following five bodies:  

• GRI Board of Directors: the final decision-making authority for GRI’s governance and long-term strategy

• Stakeholder Council: the multi-stakeholder forum that advises the Board on strategic issues and business planning

• Global Sustainability Standards Board: the independent entity with sole responsibility for developing and implementing the GRI Standards

• Due Process Oversight Committee: the independent body ensuring the integrity of all activities related to the setting of the GRI Standards

• Independent Appointments Committee: the decision maker for the membership of GRI’s standard-setting bodies

The nomination period for the Board of Directors, Stakeholder Council and Independent Appointments Committee is open from 13 May to 12 July.

The nomination period for the Global Sustainability Standards Board and Due Process Oversight Committee opened on 1 May and closes on 30 June. 

All appointments are on a voluntary basis for three-year terms, starting from 1 January 2020.
