The report continues to show innovation in reporting and is a visible commitment that sustainability is woven into the fabric of its business
July 10, 2014 /3BL Media/ - The Crown Estate’s annual report and accounts for 2013/14 continues to show innovation in reporting and is a visible commitment that sustainability is woven into the fabric of its business. It is the organisation’s second integrated annual report, following on from last year’s publication which won PwC’s Building Public Trust awards for both integrated reporting and sustainability reporting.
Sustainability is a driving factor behind the company’s strategy for long-term commercial success, and the integrated reporting method is an ideal way of expressing how The Crown Estate creates value in the short, medium and long term. This year, the report’s theme explores its vision to be a progressive commercial business creating significant value beyond financial return. It tells the story of how The Crown Estate creates success not just for its business but for those it works with - ‘conscious commercialism’. In developing its integrated reporting approach, The Crown Estate have this year focused on the resources and relationships that they draw on to create value, how they measure this through their Total Contribution, and how material issues influence their performance through a new ‘Our Markets’ section.
The report shows another excellent set of results, outperforming its market with a total return of 20 per cent, and delivering a net revenue profit of £267.1 million – a record high. All the revenue profit is delivered directly to the Treasury for the benefit of the nation’s finances. Further highlights from the last year include a 2 per cent improvement in carbon intensity, 4.3GW of renewable energy capacity installed to date and a 14.6 per cent growth in The Crown Estate’s capital value to £9.9 billion.
The full report, including a dynamic business model, features on a new website which aims to tell the same integrated story and can be found at www.thecrownestate.co.uk/annualreport-2014
