June 4, 2014 /3BL Media/ - New framework for doing business builds on commitment to global citizenship
This year, as HP celebrates its 75th anniversary, it launches a framework for thinking about how it does business called HP Living Progress. This new framework builds on HP’s commitment to global citizenship, which has been one of the corporate objectives for nearly six decades.
HP’s 2013 Living Progress Report is published online on www.hp.com/livingprogress.
Highlights in 2013
As of December 2013, more than 50% of all LEED® Platinum- and LEED® Gold-certified new construction data centers worldwide were designed by HP1, and its current generation of ProLiant Gen8 and Moonshot servers offers increased processing power while using significantly less energy and space. After publishing their comprehensive carbon footprint analysis last year, HP has raised the bar again by sharing their comprehensive water footprint this year.
In their supply chain, HP announced guidance for the fair treatment of student and dispatch workers, and followed up with targeted supplier training and assessments. HP also continued to push hard on responsible mineral sourcing, driving smelters in its supply chain towards conflict-free certification and supporting initiatives to establish viable sources of conflict-free minerals in the Democratic Republic of Congo and neighboring countries.
Working in collaboration with Conservation International, HP created HP Earth Insights, a unique early warning system for threatened species using the power of its big data solutions. And in India, over 28,000 people have already received access to quality medical care through eHealth Centers, powerful cloud-enabled healthcare solutions that serve patients in remote areas.
With Living Progress, HP brings together its people and technology to help solve society’s toughest challenges. It considers human, economic, and environmental impact as it develops products, services, and solutions, manages its operations and supply chain, and drives interactions with customers, partners, and communities.
