Republic Rewards Community Grant Program Honors Friends Of the Thomas B. Norton Library in Gulf Shores, Alabama
Republic Services of Gulf Shores, Alabama presented the Friends Of the Thomas B. Norton Library with a $3,500 grant as part of their annual Republic Rewards Community Grant Program. The program recognizes local projects and individuals for their commitment towards environmental stewardship and activism. Honoring those that best demonstrate the ability to enhance the environment while making a sustainable impact in the community. The grant funds will benefit the Friends of the Thomas B. Norton Library to improve technology resources made available in their children’s areas in the form of new internet capabilities and iPads made available to visitors.
“Technology has become a very important part of a public library’s every day processes, “ said Amy Maliska, Youth Services Librarian of the Thomas B. Norton Library. “Children are especially aware of new and upcoming technologies as public schools and their education is predicated upon using these new resources. Providing updated computers throughout the library will provide another internet and technology access point for the youth in our community.”
