Republic Services of Iowa, formerly City Carton Recycling, was recognized with 2015’s “Best Recycling/Waste Management” Award from the Corridor Business Journal. This is the eighth consecutive year that City Carton Recycling, now operating as Republic Services, has been listed in the annual “Best of the Corridor” issue for this award.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the Corridor Business Journal,” said Ray Carter, general manager of Republic Services. “This award reinforces our commitment to our customers and the communities we serve, providing peace of mind that recyclables are processed cleanly, safely and responsibly. It also means making recycling effortless for our customers throughout Iowa.”

With 66 recycling centers nationwide, recycling is a core component to Republic’s business. Last year, Republic processed nearly 5 million tons of recycled content, and our goal is to add an additional 150,000 tons per year or more of recycling capacity by 2018. According to the EPA, this results in a reduction of 480,000 tons per year of CO2E for a total of 2.4 million tons of CO2E reductions over the next five years.

Republic Services of Iowa offers comprehensive recycling and waste solutions for the Corridor community, as well as other services, including document shredding and equipment repair and maintenance. Republic of Iowa employs 120 people and services thousands of customers across its seven recycling facilities and three hauling divisions in Iowa.

Republic Services acquired City Carton Recycling in January 2015. Since 1967, City Carton Recycling has built its business through strong relationships with domestic and international mills, providing large purchase orders and consistent material quality. It also invested in proven technology and advanced sorting equipment to enhance operations and consistent service.
